MareWise Systems · software development

Maritime software, built evidence-grade.

A separate software-development practice. MareWise builds maritime products on one shared, evidence-grade platform — turning competency assessments, voyage data and chart context into auditable records. Products are in active development; status is shown honestly on each.

The platform

One shared substrate. Build once, deploy everywhere.

Every product runs on a single foundation, so each part speaks the same language and a new module is months, not years. A new MareWise product inherits the standards content, the evidence chain, the spatial layer and the interface system on day one.

Standards content

OCIMF, IHO and ICS libraries implemented as working logic — not redistributed standards text.

Evidence architecture

Provenance, audit logging and SHA-256 attribution encoded throughout — structural, not bolted on.

Maritime spatial layer

S-57 ENC ingestion and S-52 portrayal shared across every product that needs chart context.

Cross-product data plane

Competency and voyage evidence on one data model — a compounding maritime dataset.

IEC 62288 interface

OpenBridge-compliant interface language end to end, familiar to bridge teams.

AI-assisted throughout

AI is built into every MareWise tool — parsing, analysis and assistance. Contact us for details.

Mare Assess Beta

Onboard Assessment Platform · TMSA 3 compliant

A comprehensive onboard assessment platform, built by mariners. It captures an assessor’s observations onboard — behavioural and technical — in a single offline-capable mobile app, then turns them into fleet analytics, trends and benchmarks. Built on IMO Model Course 1.30, OCIMF guidance, the six-domain behavioural framework and Nautical Institute guidance, with an audit-trail evidence chain on every assessment — timestamped and signed.

The problem it solves

Paper tickbox assessments

No evidence chain, no timestamps, no structured findings. Vetting inspectors challenge any claim that lacks documentary support.

Travel-heavy reviews

Shore assessors fly to ports; each review costs thousands in travel and time. Few get completed and quality varies.

No fleet trend visibility

Assessments live in PDFs scattered across ship and shore — no way to spot trends, target training or benchmark peers.

TMSA 3 coverage — every operational domain

Navigation

Passage planning, watchkeeping, BRM, ECDIS, pilotage. Aligned with ICS BPG v5.

Mooring

Mooring plans, equipment condition, line management, port-specific risk. OCIMF MEG4.

Cargo operations

Cargo handling, tank ops, transfers, gas freeing, COW. Tanker-grade standards.

Engineering

Machinery operations, planned maintenance, watchkeeping, emergency response.

Anchoring

Anchor handling, holding-ground assessment, dragging mitigation, weather routing.

SIRE 2.0 — built in

SIRE 2.0 pre-assessment

Vetting-ready

OCIMF SIRE 2.0 runs as one assessment type within Mare Assess — not a separate product. Operators can run a full SIRE 2.0 pre-assessment onboard, against the inspection’s structure and process indicators, and arrive at the real vetting inspection already prepared, with the behavioural and technical evidence captured and signed.

Inspection structure

Follows the SIRE 2.0 question structure and process indicators.

Behavioural + technical

Hard and soft skills scored against the OCIMF/INTERTANKO domains.

Evidence captured

Findings timestamped, signed and acknowledged — ready for the inspector.

Vetting readiness

Identify gaps before the inspection, not during it. Readiness on demand.

Six OCIMF behavioural domains
01

Situational awareness

Attention to surroundings, anticipating changes, scanning the operational picture.

02

Communication

Clear briefings, closed-loop comms, language management, bridge/engine exchange.

03

Decision-making

Information gathering, evaluating options, timely action, post-decision review.

04

Teamwork

Cooperation, mutual support, conflict resolution, participation, role clarity.

05

Leadership

Setting direction, authority management, supervising and supporting the team.

06

Workload & stress

Prioritisation, fatigue management, distraction handling, performance under pressure.

How it works — five steps, minimal disruption
01
Assessor onboard

Open the app; select ship, assessment type and target seafarer.

02
Observe & capture

During normal ops. Yes/No or 1–5 scoring, photo evidence, location and behaviour tags.

03
Immediate close-out

Findings reviewed with the seafarer; acknowledgements and corrective actions logged.

04
Sync when online

Encrypted background upload when connectivity returns — no lost work at sea.

05
Fleet analytics

Backend aggregates assessments; risk index and trends update across the fleet.

The mobile app — assessor-first
  • Offline-first — full functionality without connectivity
  • Photo evidence with automatic GPS location tagging
  • Yes/No & 1–5 question types, behaviour tagged inline (positive/negative)
  • References & citations for every question, always at hand
  • Encrypted at rest — SQLCipher + AES-GCM

Mare Trace Operational alpha

Voyage-Data Evidence Platform

Produces traceable, reproducible voyage-data evidence packages from VDR and positional records — for casualty investigation, claims handling, arbitration and expert-witness review. It replaces weeks of vendor-locked extraction with a structured, audit-trail evidence product anyone can reproduce.

What it replaces

Slow vendor engagements

VDR reconstruction is outsourced to manufacturers — multi-week engagements that don’t fit an investigation timeline.

Proprietary & closed

Output is locked to a vendor’s tools and formats — hard to share, hard to challenge, hard to re-run.

Not reproducible

A static PDF summary can’t be independently reproduced — exactly what a tribunal needs it to be.

Core capabilities

Multi-source VDR parsing

NMEA, proprietary manufacturer formats and audio channels — fingerprinted by manufacturer on ingestion.

S-57 ENC built in

Native IHO S-57 ENC ingestion with S-52 portrayal — an ECDIS-equivalent display of the reconstructed track, no third-party chart engine.

Evidence-chain architecture

SHA-256 provenance and tamper-evident packaging on every artefact, from raw record to final exhibit.

BPG compliance audit

ICS Bridge Procedures Guide checked against the reconstruction — what was done versus what should have been.

Court-ready export

PDF + GeoPackage packages — citable, reproducible, openable without special software.

AI-assisted analysis

AI assists parsing and reconstruction; every output still traces to source. Contact us for details.

Why investigators choose it

On demand

A six-week vendor engagement becomes a structured evidence package produced on demand.

Court-admissible

Reproducible, ISO-referenced reconstruction built to stand up under challenge.

No vendor lock-in

Open output formats; the package is yours, not tied to a manufacturer’s toolchain.

Structured & citable

A reconstruction package, not a raw data dump — every value traceable to its source.

Who it is built for

P&I clubs

Loss-prevention teams need reproducible voyage evidence to assess causation before agreeing settlements.

Marine insurers

Underwriters and claims handlers need evidence of what happened — speed, heading, UKC, watch conditions.

Marine law firms

Expert witnesses and arbitration counsel need court-admissible, reproducible reconstruction without lock-in.

Classification societies

Internalise casualty-investigation reconstruction as a tool rather than a services engagement.

Ship managers

Produce voyage evidence quickly for incident or flag-state enquiries — on demand, not in six weeks.

Regulators & flag states

Structured, citable digital evidence packages instead of static PDF summaries.

Roadmap

Three modules on the horizon.

Further products under development on the same platform — each inheriting the standards content, evidence chain and spatial layer already built.

In development

Mare Risk

Coastal-state risk visualisation — where the next collision, grounding or spill is most likely, at any scale from port to ocean.

In development

Mare 3DWorld

Working 3D maritime worlds generated from official chart data in minutes — for simulators, digital twins and training.

In development

Mare Moor

Determines whether a specific vessel is compatible with a specific terminal before departure — replacing paper mooring tables.
